About Lattica

A consulting practice built around one idea: distributed work should feel calmer

Our Story

Started from a real problem

Lattica began in Kuala Lumpur in 2021, when our founders noticed a pattern: organisations that had moved their teams to remote arrangements were struggling not with the technology, but with the habits. Meetings ran long. Messages went unanswered across time zones. People weren't sure where decisions lived.

The question wasn't "how do we use these tools?" It was "how do we agree on what we're doing together?" That gap — between having the infrastructure and having shared working norms — is where Lattica sits.

We work with teams and organisations across Malaysia and the wider Asia-Pacific region: technology companies, professional services firms, regional NGOs, and multinationals with offices spread across several time zones. What they share is a need for coordination that doesn't rely on everyone being in the same place at the same time.

Our Mission

Practical, people-centred advisory

We don't sell software, impose frameworks, or run programmes that require teams to change overnight. Our approach starts with listening — to what the team finds hard, what already works, and what the organisation can realistically sustain.

From there, we design engagements that fit. Sometimes that's a single facilitated session to establish shared working agreements. Sometimes it's a deeper workflow review, or a broader advisory programme to shape how an organisation runs its distributed workforce over time.

"The goal is always a team that knows how to work together — even when no one is watching the clock."

— Lattica founding principle

How We Think

The values behind our work

Listening before advising

Every engagement starts with time spent understanding the team's specific context. Generic approaches waste everyone's time.

Proportionate change

We only suggest what a team can actually carry forward. A recommendation that requires constant maintenance is a burden, not an improvement.

Written clarity

Good working norms need to be written down and easy to find. We take care with the documents we produce — they need to work independently of us.

Regional understanding

Asia-Pacific organisations have distinct communication cultures and working norms. We don't default to Western playbooks.

Confidentiality by default

What teams share with us stays within the engagement. We never reference clients publicly without explicit agreement.

Building independence

A successful engagement means the team no longer needs us. We build capability, not dependency.

Senior Associate

Suraya brings a background in organisational development and has supported teams at both fast-growing startups and established Malaysian institutions. She focuses on leader-facing documentation and facilitation support.

Our Standards

How we hold ourselves to account

Scoped and documented engagements

Every engagement begins with a written scope. Both parties know exactly what is included before work starts.

Confidentiality agreements

We sign NDAs wherever requested and maintain strict information boundaries between client engagements as standard practice.

PDPA compliance (Malaysia)

All personal data collected during engagements is handled in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010.

Post-engagement review

We ask for structured feedback at the end of every engagement to understand what was useful and where we can improve.

Continuous learning

Our team actively follows developments in organisational design and distributed work research, updating our approach as understanding evolves.

People-first in everything

We don't recommend coordination changes without understanding how they affect the people doing the work. Process serves people, not the other way around.

Our Perspective

Distributed work as an organisational design question

Many organisations treat remote or distributed work as a logistics problem — a question of which tools to use, how to set up video calls, or how to manage attendance. These are real considerations, but they're not where most coordination problems originate.

The deeper question is what the team has agreed — explicitly or implicitly — about how work flows. Who decides what? Where does important information live? How do people signal that they need input? What does "done" mean? In co-located teams, these questions get answered informally over time. In distributed teams, they need to be answered deliberately.

This is the focus of Lattica's advisory work. We help organisations and their leaders think through these questions clearly, write down the answers in a form that can be shared and revisited, and build enough shared understanding that the team can maintain these norms without ongoing outside support.

Our clients are typically mid-sized Malaysian organisations — between 30 and 500 people — with teams spread across multiple locations or time zones. Many have been operating in distributed arrangements for several years and are looking to make the coordination calmer and more consistent. Some are newer to it and want to start with strong foundations. Both are good starting points for our work.
